Burgundy petunias from a sketch
One thing I love to work at is painting custom house signs.
Sometime customers send me pictures of their house outdoor, or maybe the front porch or the garden, and ask me to come up with a design. Something that will look good with the style and colors of the existing home.
A customer recently asked me to paint a house number plaque for a beautiful house in the state of New York. This house features some very unique burgundy shutters.
After a little thinking, the customer and I chose to paint a composition made of petunias. We were looking for an elegant yet natural nuance to blend with the exteriors. I therefore prepared a sketch drawing as I usually do.
Once the design was approved, preparing the right color for the flowers was the next step. This part of the work ended up with a nice and smooth tonality. A color nuance located somewhere between red and purple. It looked so good even before being fired in the kiln!
Here’s the final result you can also find here in my shop. A real nice house number plaque balanced with the house own tonalities and with a sophisticated touch to it.
Not too flashy, not too simple. Just about right even for the most exclusive neighboroods with a look like this !!
